City on a Hill

Reformed Church of the Holy Trinity is a new church in Mooresville, Indiana established for the advancement of the Christian faith as set forth in the Word of God and established in America by our Forefathers.

Our Pilgrim Forefathers landed upon American shores in 1620 and declared, “In the name of God, Amen…Having undertaken, for the Glory of God, and advancements of the Christian faith…”  Their purpose in coming to this land was for the specific purpose of glorifying God and advancing Christ’s Holy Church.

Nineteen years later, in 1639 Connecticut was established and the founders of that colony declared in their Fundamental Orders:

“FORASMUCH as it hath pleased the Almighty God by the wise disposition of his divine providence so to Order and dispose of things that we the Inhabitants and Residents…are now cohabiting and dwelling…And well knowing where a people are gathered together the word of God requires that to maintain the peace and union of such a people there should be an orderly and decent Government established according to God…do therefore associate and conjoin ourselves to be as one Public State or Commonwealth; and do, for ourselves and our Successors and such as shall be adjoined to us at any time hereafter, enter into Combination and Confederation to gather, to maintain and pressure the liberty and purity of the gospel of our Lord Jesus which we now profess, as also the discipline of the Churches, which according to the truth of the said gospel is now practised amongst us…”

Fast-forward to 1816 and Indiana was formed “into a free and Independent state.”  In 1851, the Constitution of Indiana was amended to acknowledge God as the source of our liberty.
“TO THE END, that justice be established, public order maintained, and liberty perpetuated; WE, THE PEOPLE of the STATE OF INDIANA, grateful to ALMIGHTY GOD for the free exercise of the right to choose our own form of government, do ordain this CONSTITUTION.”

Today, this dream of our Forefathers is all but lost.  The question is how and why among many who are called constitutionalists or conservatives.

However, the answer is rather simple and the Word of God enlightens us on this topic as Jesus said, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free” (John 8:32).  Jesus also defined truth by praying “Thy [God’s] word is truth” (John 17:17).

The Apostle Paul wrote under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty” (2 Corinthians 3:17).

The fact of the matter is we have turned from the ancient faith and the Lord is no longer among us.  Our churches have become a den of thieves and temples of corruption because we have forsaken the old paths (Jeremiah 6:16).

Reformed Church of the Holy Trinity is a Reformed and Protestant Church based upon the doctrines of the First Century Church and restored in the Great Reformation.  Due to centuries of suppression and rejection of God’s Word, the Church became apostate.  But God raised up men like Martin Luther, John Calvin, John Knox, William Kiffin and many others to restore the Church in the faith once delivered unto the saints.

Because they faithfully contended for the ancient faith, it brought truth and liberty to a world of darkness.  As a result, America was born as that shining city set upon a hill that President Ronald Reagan spoke so much about.

Unfortunately, we have allowed heresies and corruptions of the past to topple our families, churches and nation.  We now live in darkness that is spreading over our land at rapid pace.

If we are ever to see the greatness of America restored, it will only come with the restoration of truth in Christ’s Holy Church.

That greatness is not to be had in entertainment, carnival tricks or pop psychology but in the authentic worship of God and the careful exposition of His Word.

An old adage has been repeated by many who have studied the greatness of America’s past as:
“I sought for the greatness and genius of America in her commodious harbors and her ample rivers – and it was not there…in her fertile fields and boundless forests and it was not there…in her rich mines and her vast world commerce – and it was not there…in her democratic Congress and her matchless Constitution – and it was not there. Not until I went into the churches of America and heard her pulpits aflame with righteousness did I understand the secret of her genius and power. America is great because she is good, and if America ever ceases to be good, she will cease to be great.”

Until we restore the ancient faith that established America we can never hope to see America’s greatness restored.  Therefore, our first priority in reclaiming America must be in reforming the Church.  As the Reformers discovered, we can only reform what is apostate by establishing the true.

Partner with Reformed Church of the Holy Trinity and let’s establish a community of saints that cannot be hid.
