Momentum

“But the word of God grew and multiplied.” -Acts 12:2

Big changes are in the works at Covenant Commission and Reformed Church of the Holy Trinity.  No, we are not changing our doctrine, focus or anything we have been working towards the last few years.  We are actually reaching the point to move forward with our ministries.

We have received a boost the last few months giving us the ability to focus on preaching the word both locally and through public mediums.  We have not received an influx in resources or anything like that but God is opening up our situation in time and place.

Over the next few weeks you can expect our radio program to restart with better sound quality and an increase in audio and video production online.  While the equipment we were working with remains the same, we now have a better setting in which to work.  This will increase our audio and video quality and allow us the time and place to continue the work.

Our inactivity has not been from lack of effort and we are getting closer to seeing this long process pay off by being able to focus on the proclamation of God’s Word in our modern marketplace called the internet.

The reason why this next segment in planting Reformed Holy Trinity and advancing the ministry of Covenant Commission is because we are, Lord willing, beginning to focus on the main objective.  The example of planting and growing the local church is preaching the Word.

In the book of Acts we find the inspirational and statement of expansion in Acts 12:24:

“But the word of God grew and multiplied.”

This momentum in the First Century Church was looked upon as the Word of God growing and multiplying.  Today, the American Church is fixated with numerical growth but that does not necessarily include the growth of God’s Word.

The true means of Biblical advancement and expansion of the Christian faith is the Word of God being preached with boldness through the power of the Holy Spirit.

“And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.” –Acts 4:31

There is no other method for church growth in the Scriptures and is why ministers of the Gospel are told to “preach the Word” no matter the popularity of the message (2 Timothy 4:2).

While we desire, just as any true believer would, the increase of the Church in our society, we must understand we live in a hostile culture.  The Church in the book of Acts lived under, although more intense, this same hostility.  Yet, the Church did not respond to the hostility with inclusion, tolerance or compromise.  With great earnest and zeal they preached the Word of God without fear.

Church growth was a result of the power of the Word of God and it is our only command and example for expansion.

“And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.” –Acts 6:7

The responsibilities before us are to plant and water and leave the results to God.

“I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.” –1 Corinthians 3:6

Finally, after much work and patience, Reformed Church of the Holy Trinity and Covenant Commission is ready to engage our community, State, nation and world with the whole counsel of God.  So, get ready, we will be coming out with guns blazing!
