The Word Made Flesh: Part 64—He Himself Knew What He Would Do
2026-06-28 | John 6:1-14 | The Word Made Flesh
In this sermon from John 6:4–14, Pastor James Brown Jr. continues our series through the Gospel of John by considering the feeding of the five thousand and the words, “He Himself knew what He would do.”
Set near the Passover, this great sign reveals Jesus as the true Bread-giver, the greater Moses, the promised Prophet, and the Shepherd who feeds His people in the wilderness. As Jesus tests Philip and exposes the insufficiency of the disciples, we are reminded that human resources, visible strength, and earthly calculation are never enough in themselves. Five barley loaves and two small fish are nothing among so many—unless they are placed in the hands of Christ. This message calls us to see the sign rightly, to trust the sovereign sufficiency of Christ, and to believe that He knows how to feed His people, build His Church, and make weak means abound for His glory.
