Happy Mother's Day!

With the reengaged debate over abortion due to the leak of the pending Supreme Court in Dobbs v. Jackson, we are reminded it is "Happy Mother's Day" and not "Happy You Murdered Your Unborn Baby Day!" Aborted babies do not rise up and call their mother blessed. Only the living can give her praise.

So, we who are living give thanks that our mothers did not kill us in the womb but submitted themselves to the created natural order in love and sacrifice. However, the landscape is drastically changing where instead of honoring life, motherhood, love, and sacrifice, we are becoming a society that honors death, unnatural identities, hatred, and selfishness. Proverbs 8:36 declares that all who hate wisdom love death.

Because we have rejected the Wisdom of God in Jesus Christ, America is consumed by a culture of death. And how was Jesus Christ revealed? God did not despise the virgin's womb. In the Incarnation of the Son, the Father bestowed the revelation of Life, Light, and Wisdom into the world through the natural giver of life—woman.

"And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel." –Genesis 3:15

"And Adam called his wife’s name Eve, because she was the mother of all living." –Genesis 3:20

"Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel." –Isaiah 7:14

"For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order it and establish it with judgment and justice from that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this." –Isaiah 9:6-7

"Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: After His mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Spirit. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly. But while he thought about these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, 'Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.' So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: 'Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,' which is translated, 'God with us.'" –Matthew 1:18-23

"Let a woman learn in silence with all submission. And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence. For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression. Nevertheless she will be saved in childbearing if they continue in faith, love, and holiness, with self-control." –1 Timothy 2:11-15

This Sunday we celebrate Mother's Day. It is a day to honor motherhood and fruitfulness. We celebrate and honor life that comes through the woman, both physical and spiritual through Eve and Mary.

Eve was deceived and fell into the transgression that brought death, yet, she became the mother of all living. The virgin Mary was a humble handmaid, but through her eternal life was manifested in Jesus Christ. The woman became a life-giver.

The purpose of womanhood is to be a giver of life, but this high calling is accomplished in faith, love, and holiness with self-control. Women have a special calling to be life-givers both physically and spiritually. On Mother's Day, we honor our physical and spiritual mothers because God has exalted them. We honor Eve because she is the mother of all living; our biological mother because she brought us into the world; the blessed virgin Mary because of the fruit of her womb; the Church because she has birthed us into eternal life; and, our spiritual mothers because they nurture us in true life.

May we not be fools who despise and forsake the law of their mothers and bring reproach upon them (Proverbs 6:20; 10:1; 15:20; 19:26).

There is a generation that does not bless its mother (Proverbs 30:11). This is such a generation. The antics of the pro-abortionists with their cancel culture, manipulation, violence, despotism, or leaking of the Justice Alito draft has nothing to do with science, law, philosophy, or religion but everything to do with suppressing the truth in unrighteousness. They desire to suppress the beauty of womanhood because they abhor the virgin's womb. They hate Christ and therefore love death.

The choice is before us—life or death—blessing or cursing.

"I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; that you may love the Lord your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days; and that you may dwell in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them." –Deuteronomy 30:19-20
