The Word Made Flesh: Part 60—The Hypostatic Authority and Unity of Jesus Christ—Part 2
2026-05-31 | John 5:30 | The Word Made Flesh
Christianity is not an individualistic spirituality detached from Christ’s Church. To belong to Christ is to be gathered into His household, joined to His people, and built together with the saints upon the foundation He Himself has laid. Those who remain outside the visible fellowship of the Church are not living in the fullness of what Christ has established for His people. The Church is not a man-made option for especially serious Christians. She is the household of God, the commonwealth of the saints, and the holy temple in which God dwells by His Spirit. Christ Himself is the chief cornerstone; the apostles and prophets form the foundation; and every believer is called to be fitted together with the people of God. Therefore, do not be deceived by a private, isolated, and self-directed version of Christianity. Christ does not save us into spiritual homelessness. He brings us from being strangers and foreigners into citizenship, household, communion, worship, discipline, doctrine, and life together with His saints. As the Apostle Paul writes: “Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief corner stone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.” — Ephesians 2:19–22 Come home to the Church. Enter the household of God. Be built together with the saints in Christ. Because Christ is building a temple, not scattering stones.
