Dear Sir/Ma'am, We have much to rejoice and be thankful for in the United States Supreme Court overturning of Roe v Wade. Still yet, we, the Church, have much to repent of and not just in relation to abortion. We should take this kindness of our Lord as gracious space in which to humble ourselves before the Lord and repent of our many sins of omission and commission. |
Although we take the Supreme Courts decision as good news, it does not take a prophet to forecast the inevitable outcome of Western Civilization's godless freefall. The decline has been visible for many years, but now it is up close and personal. And yet, we continue to live in a thoughtless bubble pretending everything is ok. But, it's not ok!
The Church is at a crossroads. Churches are closing due to a lack of funds, a lack of interest, or due to public scandals. Pastors are discouraged and leaving the ministry. The Church has given up hope while Christians are deconstructing. Many others are apathetic, or worse, they are enthusiastic but also heretics. It appears that we are on the brink of a great apostasy—if we are not already in the midst of it.
America is in dire straits. Abortion. Violence. Murder. Pornography. Debauchery. Unnatural perversion. Scandals. Corruption. Inflation. Drugs. Suicide. Mental illness. The list could go on and on but years of sowing to our flesh has finally yielded its fruit.
America is coming apart at the seams and becoming reprobate. We are "filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful" (Romans 1:29-31), and, even though we know the judgment of God, we take pleasure in it (Romans 1:32).
In all of this, one has to wonder: "Where is the Church that Jesus built?" The one that Jesus said would not surrender or be defeated by the gates of hell; the one that turned the world upside down in the First Century; and, the one that turned the world upside down in the 16th Century.
This rally is not a call to enact some formula for deliverance. It is not a 10-step outline to save America. It is not a political campaign. It is a call to unite in prayer to acknowledge our sin, confess it, and amend our ways according to the Word of God in faith and repentance in Jesus Christ.

"If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land." –2 Chronicles 7:14
The sins of the Church have come home to roost. If we do not start humbling ourselves now, then when? Are we going to wait until there is nothing left but ashes?

"Then He [Jesus] came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, 'What! Could you not watch with Me one hour? Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.'" –Matthew 26:40-41
